Overview

myJot ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our note-taking application.

End-to-End Encryption

All your notes are encrypted on your device using your Sync ID as the encryption key. This means:

Your data is encrypted before it leaves your device
We cannot read your notes - only you can
Even if our servers were compromised, your data would remain unreadable
We use AES-256-GCM encryption with PBKDF2 key derivation

Information We Collect

We do not collect:

Personal information (name, email, phone number)
Location data
Device identifiers
Usage analytics or tracking data
The content of your notes (encrypted and unreadable to us)

What we store:

Your encrypted note data (unreadable without your Sync ID)
A hash of your Sync ID (for sync functionality)

Local Storage

When you use myJot without a Sync ID, all your data is stored locally on your device using your browser's localStorage. This data never leaves your device.

Data Sync

When you create or enter a Sync ID:

Your notes are encrypted on your device
The encrypted data is sent to our servers
We store only the encrypted blob - we cannot decrypt it
Your Sync ID is your encryption key - if you lose it, your data cannot be recovered

Third-Party Services

We do not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.

Data Retention

Your encrypted data is stored on our servers until you delete it. Local data remains on your device until you clear your browser storage or uninstall the app.

Children's Privacy

myJot does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. Our service is designed to be privacy-preserving for users of all ages.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of any material changes by updating the "Last updated" date.
